Janelle Hacault is a professional contemporary dance artist and educator from Winnipeg MB, now based in Montréal, QC. She is a graduate of the Senior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers, trained actor, and holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Winnipeg. She has had the privilege of working with Nafro Dance Productions, Odette Heyn Projects, Nova Dance Collective, Gearshifting Performance Works, Alexandra Elliott Dance Inc, Riley Sims, Zorya Arrow, Young Lungs Dance Exchange, Ming Hon, Compagnie Entitey/Jason Martin, and Trip The Light Fantastic (Kyra Jean Green). She is co-founder of Nova Dance Collective, .6 Ricochet, and co-creator of thedancepost.org, an online dance hub focused on promoting dance education and performance for the professional Manitoba dance community. In 2016, her company .6 Ricochet toured to perform at SpringWorks Festival in Stratford, Ontario, NextFest in Edmonton, Alberta and ended their season by remounting ESSENTIA in Winnipeg, MB. In 2017, she received an artist residency through Danse à la Carte for her collaborative creation with Jason Martin entitled, Falling. It premiered in Toronto, ON through Dance Matters Dance Productions and then in Winnipeg, MB through a co-presentation by Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers (WCD). This summer she participated in Springboard Danse Montréal, working with Maxine Doyle/Punchdrunk International (choreographer for Sleep No More) and Ryan Mason. Quatre, co-created alongside collaborators Greg Selinger, Kyra Jean Green and Angélique Delorme was performed July 2017 for FASS in Saint-Sauveur. In September, she became a company dancer for Trip The Light Fantastic (Kyra Jean Green) and premiered The Man Who Travelled Nowhere In Time at Place des Arts, Cinquième Salle for Festival Quartiers Danses. Janelle most recently choreographed an original musical by The Mariachi Ghost entitled Rencor Vivo for the Prismatic Arts Festival in Halifax, NS. She is currently creating a new dance work with concert harpist, Coralie Gauthier and will also be in Jason Martin’s new creation called Beyond with WCD in spring 2018.
